Intimacy

Ash:

1. How do you survive an intimacy famine?

I usually get lost on Twitter. I read and comment more in hopes to feel seen and important.

2. The loss of which one of these would most affect your mental health or outlook on life?

a. Loss of physical intimacy

b. Loss of emotional intimacy

A lack of physical intimacy is much more damaging to me. Sex is basically what keeps me going. It's what I live for. It's a huge part of my life. Without sex, I feel lost and depressed.  A lack of emotional intimacy is also depressing but I could deal with it better.

3. Give us a tip on how to get more intimacy in our day-to-day lives.

Oh, goodness. I wish I knew! I could definitely use more emotional and physical intimacy in my life. I feel like I'm the only polyamorous person who doesn't have any other partners than the one I'm married to. It's so depressing.

4. Do you think modern technology helps or hinders intimacy?

Modern technology absolutely hinders intimacy. Sometimes I want to have dinner with my husband and talk to him like we are on a date, but he would rather watch tv or play on his phone while he eats. So, I either just watch something with him or sit in silence while he gets lost in his phone.

I also used to love pillow talk when we went to bed but Husband falls asleep as soon as his head hits the pillow, so I've gotten used to just being on my phone for a bit to wind down before I fall asleep. Since he has a hard time initiating physical intimacy, sometimes he takes me being on my phone to mean that I don't want sex (which is honestly ridiculous. I mean, come on, of course I want sex) so the phone gets in the way there too.

5. Would you utilize the services of a professional cuddler?

I actually would love to BE a professional cuddler. I've seriously thought about looking into it recently.
